CAIRO, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) — Militant groups belonging to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood (MB), from which the ousted president Mohamed Morsi hails, set the finance ministry building ablaze, State TV reported Wednesday.
The finance ministry, which is located in Abbassya district under 6 October Bridge, was attacked by militants who attempted to break into and control the place.
No casualties were reported in the incident yet.
The protesters, who were fleeing Rabaa Al Adawiya square in Cairo’s Nasr City as the police dispersed them by force, blocked the entrance of the bridge, hurled stones at the cars and burnt car tires.
The protesters also threw a police vehicle with four personnel inside off the bridge.
However, security forces in coordination with the armed forces managed to reopen the bridge.
